Can you believe we’re already into the second half of our Warehouse Series? This month marks the series’ seventh outing, keeping in theme with the last few months’ offerings – hoppy pales made with the New World hops that we all know and love. If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that our brewers know how to put together a quality IPA – the rate at which TANK goes through barrels of Session IPA pays testament to that fact. So, needless to say, we were all excited to see what they would come up with this time around. And we were very happy with the results.

Shipton’s IPA is our second IPA of the series, following on from May’s awesome Vic IPA, our super fruity, super hazy NEIPA crammed to bursting with hoppy goodness. This time, however, we’ve moved away from the New England style, to that of the most popular IPAs around today: an IPA promising a bouquet of fruity flavours offset by a zap of bitterness that keeps you coming back for more and more. It’s a 30 IBU, super-pale ale, at a 4.5% ABV that makes it deliciously sessionable while not compromising at all on flavour. A generous helping of oats in the grist smooths out the mouthfeel and pumps up the body.

On the hop front, we’ve got pretty much all the names you know and love: Citra, Chinook, Ekuanot – hopefully reading that list gets your as excited as it does us. The nose promises ripe fruit with a distinct zesty citrus note, and the first smooth sip delivers waves of grapefruit, lemon, papaya and stone fruit flavour. Steadily, some subtle floral and herbal notes come to the surface as the Ekuanot hops work their magic.

While it sits at the same ABV as our ever-popular Session IPA, in the same style, Shipton’s IPA is very much its own beer, a totally different hop profile and grist making it a unique and fierce character in its own right.

The weather is better than it’s been all year, and if you’re anything like us you’ll be using that as the ideal excuse to relax in the sun with a pint of good beer and watch the world go by. Shipton’s IPA is the perfect partner with which to undertake this endeavour: fresh, zingy, and going down frighteningly easy. Most people say suncream is the most essential thing to have on a day in the sun – we say it’s a pint of Shipton’s and a comfy seat at TANK. Happy drinking!
